IMHO this is a very good winch at a good price. I bought the plate for my sportsman and hooking it up was pretty easy. I would buy another one.

Horrible Product

I brought this winch to use with our ATV to plow snow. I is quite possibly the wrst product ever made. The plow drifts down to the ground when plowing for two minutes. The first use of the winter I used the wunderful synthetic rope to use to plow 2 inches of light snow and the rope broke. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODCUT...THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND IT, WE WERE SIMPLEY TOLD, SORRY! THEY ARE A BIG SCAM....THERE IS A REASON THAT THESE PLOWS ARE ON SALE SO OFTEN!!!! The wench is junk and should not be sold to anyone who wants a reliable product that lasts! The synthetic rope is for the birds...do not buy this product either! What a scam these people are, the people who wrote the other reviews must work for them and get the product for free or be paid to write good reviews! HURRIBLE PRODUCT!!!

Mounting plate and hardware are incorrect!

This kit was for a 2007 Polaris Sportsman 800. I am 52 years old with 45+ years of mechanical experience including 23 years as an aircraft mechanic in the United States Coast Guard. While putting the unit together I soon discovered that the internal wrenching bolts (allen bolts) were too long and I could not get the bolts that secure the motor to the plate to line up because the motor was hitting the hawes mounting bolts. After cutting the allen bolts and drilling out the holes in the hawes mounting plate to 1/2" it gave me enough slop to line the holes up with the motor only to find that the bolts that were sent with the kit were too short. (20mm). Since my kit had a mount plate and a hawes mount plate it requires four 25 to 30 mm long bolts, which were not included. I have been in contact with Lisa at Promark for about a month about these issues via emails with pictures and phone calls. She finally told me that "It has been put on the back burner". I then asked to speak to a supervisor at which point I was handed over to Chasity. She responded the same day but the explanations were not exceptable to me. She assembled the same kit and installed the allen bolts from the wrong direction to get enough clearence for the motor. The problem is that it is not how the kit was designed. It is very hard to get a socket on the nut because it is inside of the hole that is meant for the head of the allen bolt. And it doesn't look right! A very easy fix to the clearance problem would be to slot or move the bolt holes on the hawes mounting plate back 1/4". She told me that they only include 20 mm bolts to mount the motor because some kits don't require two plates and a longer bolt would bottom out against the motor and crack the housing. The fix for the bolt length problem is to include the proper length bolts with the kits that need them instead of expecting the consumer to drive to the hardware store and purchase the correct length bolts. Which in this case would be: 8mm diameter, 1.25 thread pitch x 25mm long WARNING!! If anyone has a Polaris sportsman it would br worth while to check and see how many turns you can get on the bolts that hold the motor to the plate. If you used the 20 mm bolts that came with the kit with no washers you can get just over 1 turn on them. Which will create a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION!! Now for the good news: Overall it is a very nice unit. and other than a few very fixable issues I believe it will serve me well. My son ordered the same winch for a 2011 XP 850 Polaris and it fit perfectly. He has already pulled several Can am's, Yamaha's, and Honda's out of the mud in Alaska. I am sorry that I was forced to send this review but, in the interest of keeping some one from going through what I went through or possibly getting hurt made it necessary. Rick P. Chandler, AZ

Bought this winch last month> pruchased mounting plate with it for my 2011 Kawasaki Brute Force 650 S/A. Install was pretty easy, just trying to find places to mount the relay out of harms way was hecktick. Plowing snow today in the blizard of 2011 got really stuck in five feet of snow. Run the rope to a post and out we came with no problem. Great service quick shipping.

Just mounted a 2500 XTR winch last night and it seems to be a great product. I bought the model specific mounting bracket (highly reccomended) for the winch and it fit perfect and is heavier built than I expected. Shipping is fast, only took 2 days for my package to arrive. Hats off to Promark, this kind of service is hard to find.

Bought this winch and the matching mounting plate for my 2007 Rancher AT. I plan on using it for plowing snow mainly but it seems to have plenty of power for other "sticky" situations as well. Took my by myself about 3 1/2 hours to install but that would be my only complaint. I installed it and immediately went over to a stump to try and pull it out, the winch was dragging my Rancher with the plow down and the parking brake set! It didn't even sound like it was working too hard! Much better than other winches I have been around. Would recommend to anyone.
