  1. For the price Warn can't touch this... Review by atxjax

I have one of these on my truck. Works great. Looks good and it's about 1/4 the price of a Warn.

Plus due to the current political climate I refuse to buy a Warn because they are in Union. How's that Hope and Change for you? (Posted on 12/30/09)

  2. Bought 2 of these for vehicle recovery. Review by Mr. C

I bought two of these in the summer of '08. Mounted one each on two car hauler trailers. One of the wireless remotes did not work properly. The company furnished me with a new remote and contactor head assembly. Both of the trailers and winches are still in use after 18 months of almost daily use. These units have paid for themselves many times by retrieving several hundred junk cars from the hills and valleys of Northern New England. As with any electro-mechanical device, keep them sheltered from the worst of the weather, and keep them well lubricated (the mechanical parts) and they will continue to work as required. 3. Long-term Review by ocalhoun

Well, this winch outlived my Jeep... Dropped the jeep off a cliff, but the winch is still fine (actually, the Jeep still drove around after the 20ft fall, too). This little winch saved me (and others) several times. I could always count on it to have practically infinite pulling power, and to break what it was pulling before it broke itself. I wish they would have made the controllers out of metal though... Yeah, it's slow. I prefer the word inexorable though. You want to take things slow and easy when recovering a truck, and this thing gets the job done cheaply.

It'll be installed on my new trail rig soon! (Posted on 6/13/09)

  4. silverback 8000lb Review by meanharleydude

works great!! exceptional winch for the price, i rigged it up to my skid-steer and use it to pull logs and firewood tree tops out of the woods. i work the winch hard and many hrs' a day, not just once a month with a stuck vehicle. (Posted on 5/26/09)

  5. Good winch for the price. Review by ronstreehaul

I have a Tree / Hauling Service and I pull some big tree trunk pieces on my trailer with the 8,000 Lbs. Gorilla Silverback Series. It is a good winch, but I put mine under far more of a load than normal. I had to have it rebuilt once, but it is ticking great now. A very good winch overall. (Posted on 3/24/09)

  6. Can't beat this winch Review by Coldwater

there is simply no reason to pay double the price for the Warn name on a winch. My Gorilla silverback is as quiet, as tough, and as dependable.. at half the cost. This is no junk Atlas winch, or one of the same knock offs with a different name. Use one of them, and be sure to wear hearing protection, as the gear noise and grind sounds like they are coming apart. Not so with the Gorilla, the fit and finish is superior, and the operation is as smooth and quiet as any high end brand name winch. good luck finding a better winch at a better price. 7. Testimate to the awsome GORILLA winch Review by Yanks Jeep

I may be new to jeeps, new to cars in general for that matter, but I'm no fool and i know a good product when i see one. I recently bought myself a 97 TJ Sahara Edition Jeep Wrangler and it has been my dream to have an off road capable truck. What better way then with a winch? I Ordered the Gorilla 8000 water proof winch and hooked it up today........and got stuck 4 times :) This bad boy pulled me out no fuss, no straining, no screeching, just a steady, even pull... I would trust this winch through anything and its only the first day, a master of pulling and the best money can possibly buy. :) buy one, and have fun with no fear! (Posted on 10/11/08)

  8. Just installed the silverback Review by Bob

After installing this on my jeep TJ, I wanted to check and make sure everything was functional so I hooked on to my ford pickup and turned it sideways in the driveway. The cordless remote works well. The winch is a little louder than I expected but I'm sure it needs to be broken in a bit. Other than that so far it seems to be a great investment.
